Vikas Malani is a Mumbai based veteran celebrity tattoo artist. The man behind ‘BodyCanvas’ got inspired by his mother, who was an artist. Having no formal training in fine art, Vikas’ passion for art led him to start sketching at a very young age. His artwork included a lot of landscape, abstract patterns and designs. He later progressed to body painting and temporary tattoos in 1998. He trained under a Spanish tattoo artist, Lydia and with the support of Dr. Kohiyar and Mr. Shantaram, started commercial tattooing in the year 2001. And finally, in the year 2003, ‘BodyCanvas’ was launched.Vikas has worked on all styles of tattoos, from old school to modern. His personal favourites include linework, dotwork, freestyle, traditional designs, water color and geometric tattoos.
He loves experimenting with new styles and does not want to restrict himself to any particular style.
A strong advocate of women empowerment, Vikas has collaborated with acid attack survivors through the Channv Foundation and is actively working with them by conducting tattoo workshops all over India. Further, he also supports the Space Foundation for stray animals (dogs).
Mickey started with temporary tattooing and took up many private, fashion, college and corporate events. He later worked on making permanent tattoos and has been travelling across the globe to polish his skills and attending international tattoo conventions to keep up with the latest technology and artwork in the tattoo industry, thus maintaining a high level of hygiene and quality of artwork. He has attended more than 30 international conventions in places like (Bangkok, Phuket, Pataya, Derby, Doncaster, Norwich, Sheffield, Brighton, London, Manchester, Bath, Liverpool etc. and has also trained and worked with brands like Extreme Needles in London.
Body canvas is one-stop-shop for all the type of piercings and tattoo. Tattooing is a highly intimate act, in terms of pain one person goes through, which is permanently inked by a stranger.
